HALSTEAD—Halstead residents will have the opportunity to get their COVID-19 vaccine this Friday without even leaving town.
Hesston Pharmacy will be offering a vaccine clinic from 8 to 10 a.m. in the council room at Halstead City Hall. If interested, you must sign up online by 6 p.m. Thursday so the pharmacy knows how many doses to bring.
The clinic is open to people in all five phases of the state’s vaccination plan, meaning anyone 16 or older is eligible. They are able to accommodate up to 120 people. Appointments were still available as of Tuesday morning, according to Hesston Pharmacy co-owner Sandie Kueker.
The pharmacy will be administering the Pfizer vaccine, and they will return in three weeks to provide the second dose.
“If someone needs a first dose and they can’t come to the clinic in Halstead, both our stores—Hesston Pharmacy and Harvey Drug—have appointments throughout the day every day, so they can make an appointment anytime to come get their vaccine,” Kueker said. “We’re just going to go to Halstead to make it easier for people.”
In addition to bringing a clinic to Halstead, Hesston Pharmacy and Harvey Drug have delivered vaccines to manufacturers in Moundridge, Hesston and Newton and to a law firm in Wichita that supports a minority-owned entrepreneur group.
“So we’ve been doing lots of fun, different things,” she said, adding they expected to reach the 5,000 mark of doses administered sometime this week.
