Emergency responders were unable to resuscitate a 15-year-old girl drowning victim in the 10,000 block of E First Street on Friday night.

Harvey County Director of Communications Kyle McCaskey said responders received a call around 9:30 p.m. July 16. The address is about seven miles east of Newton and one mile east of East Lake.

“Other individuals at the residence found the girl unresponsive in the pool,” he said.

McCaskey said first responders performed CPR on the girl, and she was transported to Wesley Hospital in Wichita, where she was pronounced deceased. He said the girl was a resident of the property and was swimming alone in an in-ground swimming pool before she was found. A friend of the family later told Harvey County Now she was not alone at the time of the drowning.

He said no foul play is suspected in the girl’s death. Her name has not been released.
