The Harvey County Health Department has confirmed its second presumptive-positive case of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, in Harvey County.

The confirmed case is a Harvey County man in his 50s. The man is in home isolation. The Health Department and Kansas Department of Health and Environment will regularly monitor the individual, as well as follow up on all contacts.

Our community members must continue to take proactive steps to help reduce the spread of COVID-19,” said Health Department Director Lynnette Redington. “Wash your hands, practice social distancing and stay healthy at home except for essential activities.”

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has issued a Stay Home executive order until April 19 in response to COVID-19. Kansans must stay home except to go to work to perform an essential function; obtain food, medicine or household necessities; medical care; caring for children, family members or pets; or exercise that abides by social distancing and gathering guidelines.

As of today, the KDHE had confirmed 428 cases of COVID-19 in Kansas, not including this case in Harvey County. Harvey County reported its first confirmed case March 26.

The KDHE has a phone hotline available to answer questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 at 1-866-534-3463. Resources are also available at www.govstatus.egov.com/coronavirus.
