Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival cancels 2020 event

For Newton Now

NEWTON –   There will be no Sand Creek Summer Daze this year.  Organizers sent out a release stating that the festival would be postponed until next year, as Covid-19 cases continue to increase in the county, region and state.
“In the best interest of public health and fiscal responsibility the Sand Creek Summer Daze
executive committee made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 festival, which had been planned for
Aug. 14-15 in Athletic Park,” the release stated.
Festival Chairman Greg Hanson said the decision was made to best protect the health of the community
and also ensure that the festival remains financially strong as it moves forward. Sponsors who had
already committed to the 2020 festival will be contacted soon.
The committee is planning for an expanded event in 2021 and will share more details this fall.
