Resurfacing project to take I-135 down to one lane

$3.76 million project to repair I-135 in Harvey County

Work will begin soon on a $3.76 million project on a nearly 10-mile section of I-135 in Harvey County.

The work – resurfacing and bridge repairs — is tentatively set to start Monday, July 6.

The project will extend on I-135 from the Sedgwick/Harvey County line to the north side of the 12th Street bridges in Newton.

The work will occur at different times on northbound and southbound lanes.

During the work, traffic will be restricted to one lane, and the speed limit will be reduced through the work zone.

The project is expected to be completed next spring, depending on the weather.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is overseeing the project.

Wildcat Construction Co. Inc., of Wichita, is the main contractor for the $3,764,832 project.
