Pavement patching to close U.S. 50, I-135 ramps at Newton

For Harvey County Now
A ramp-pavement patching project will begin soon on U.S. 50/I-135 interchanges on the south and north sides of Newton. The project also involves patching on I-135 ramps at First Street and Broadway in Newton.

The Kansas Department of Transportation Project is expected to begin around March 28 and end around late July.

During the work, ramps may be closed for up to five days at a time, including overnight and limited weekends.

Only one ramp will be closed at a time. A single lane closure may be needed on sections of I-135 and U.S. 50. Motorists will be directed to drive at reduced speeds.

KDOT will provide updates on when each ramp will close as the project progresses.

Vogts-Parga Construction, of Newton, is the primary contractor for the $1,179,492 project.
