Parade, Dance, Meals, Music and more on display at Fall Fest

This year's Fall Festival Grand Marshal, Joe Mitchem, has spent his whole life in Sedgwick.

Sedgwick’s Fall Fest will take place today and tomorrow and features a parade, beer contest, dance, fireworks, concert and many other activities.

After the Fall Fest 5K at 8 a.m. the event starts in earnest with the Grand Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The parade will start lining up at the southeast corner of the high school and head east on Fourth Street to Commercial, north to Seventh Street then west to Monroe Performances.  Sam and Janise Enterkin will serve as the grand martial for the parade. The national anthem will be sung by Sedgwick High School Madrigals and the Pledge of Allegiance led by RL Wright Elementary Kindergarteners. Following the parade, the JH/HS Band will perform as well as the dance and cheer teams.

There will be a car show town, as well as a homebrew beer contest.

The brew contest begins at 11 a.m. at the SW corner of Fifth and Commercial. The contest costs $15 to enter and vote and goers must be 21 or older.

The Senior Center will serve a Fiesta Lunch which is included in the price of admission (A $10 wristband for the entire festival event. )

There will be games and activities through the afternoon and in the evening there will be food trucks and margaritas at the Pocket Park.

United Methodist Church will offer baked stead or a chicken and noodle dinner as well.

Entertainment in the evening kicks off in earnest starting with a performance by Jimmy Lee Jones, at 6:30 p.m. at Fifth and Commercial.

A street dance will take place from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with a performance by Annie Up at Fifth Street and Commercial.  Following will be a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. at the Park T-Ball Field.

The next day includes more activities such as corn hole, sand volleyball, pickle ball and turtle racing competitions, as well as a fishing derby, and taco feed.

$10 wristbands for entrance into the festival’s activities can be purchased at the park building during the event according to the event’s flier. Fall Fest supports Sedgwick Connect’s Community Christmas Program providing Christmas meals, food items and gifts to local families.
