Northridge Elementary School searched as police serve warrant

Northridge Elementary School locked its doors and was searched by police Tuesday, December 14 as officers attempted to serve a warrant to a person who fled.

According to a City release around noon Newton Police Officers went to a house on Windsor Drive near Northridge to arrest a suspect wanted by Wichita Police on charges of aggravated domestic battery.

Upon arriving at the house the suspect fled out of the back door.

Officers searched the area for the man on foot by car and also used a drone.

Officers also searched Northridge Elementary School and its doors were locked for a short time.

At 2 p.m. the suspect turned himself in to Newton Police and he was released into the custody of the Wichita Police Department.
