By Harvey County Now staff

The Chartis Center for Rural health honored NMC Health Medical Center  as one of its top community and rural hospitals for 2021.

NMC Health joins three other Kansas hospitals – Advanced Health in Ottawa, Mercy Hospital in Moundridge and Pratt Regional Medical Center – on the list compiled by the Center which is associated with an healthcare advisory and analytics firm.
“We are honored to once again be recognized as one of the nation’s top performing rural and community hospitals,” NMC Health President and CEO Val Gleason stated in a press release.  “At NMC Health, we have a passion for the health of our community and the care of our patients. This four-time designation is a true reflection of how all of our providers and staff commit to excellence in service every day.”

The list has been released for the last 11 years. Hospitals are evaluated using various performance indicators such as market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency.

Newton Medical Center usually preforms well on hospital rankings and holds a five star ranking on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service government website that evaluates American hospitals. Only Wesley has a similar ranking in South Central Kansas.
