Hesston selects local leaders

Hesston elects Frick, Rostetter and Jantz to Board of Education

In a surprisingly contested Hesston Board of Education Race, residents elected incumbents Layne Frick and Susan Rostetter as well as Sara Jantz to the Hesston Board of Education.

Frick received 555 votes, Rostetter, 532 and Jantz 518. Zackerie Ledford received 416 votes.

There are 13 provisional ballots and two ballots dropped off in voting boxes to be counted. The total includes votes from Marion and McPherson County.

Jantz was the victim of property crime during the race having $200 in damage done the weekend before to signs she had around town.


Hesston selects incumbent and new comer to serve city

Michael Wallace will serve on the Hesston City Council as well as incumbent Brad Unruh.

Unruh received 528 votes, Wallace 393 votes and Jason Jones, who had served on the city council since 2013, 330 votes. The top two vote getters earned terms on the city council.

Mayor David Kauffman ran unopposed and was re-elected.
