Hesston boys win CKL track crown, girls place second

Hesston’s boys won the Central Kansas League track title May 13 at Halstead.

The Swathers earned 100 team points, which was 15 more than runner-up Halstead. It was the Hesston boys’ first track title since they won four in a row from 2011-14.

Hesston’s girls placed second out of 10 teams. Hesston’s girls have placed in the top two at league five times in the past seven years.

Winning individual track titles were Nick Arnold in the 110-meter hurdles (16.74 seconds); Devin Miller in the 300 hurdles (43.71); Braden Esau in the 800 (2:08.12); and Elsie Clark in the 3,200 (12:57.99).

Esau, Ayden Summers, Ryan Eilert and Max Werner took first in the 3,200 relay (8:35.98), and Max Werner, Cason Richardson, Tyler Rewerts and Cavan Fuqua won the 1,600 relay (3:30.83).

Hesston will compete this Friday at a regional meet in Holcomb.
