Expect delays on U.S. 50 to I-135 ramp

For Harvey County Now

This week ramp construction in Newton will shift to the ramp connecting the westbound lanes U.S. 50 to southbound lanes of I-135 in Newton.

The Kansas Department of Transportation stated that the ramp will remain open. However, during daytime hours from June 13 to June 17, traffic on the ramp will be narrowed to a width of 11 feet and controlled by flaggers.

Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes,” the KDOT release stated.

The work is part of a larger $1.18 million KDOT construction project, expected to wrap up in late July. The project, contracted to Vogts-Parga Construction, includes work to patch pavement on the First Street and Broadway onramps to I-135, as well as the U.S. 50/ I-135 interchanges on the North and south sides of Newton.

As for future construction-related traffic delays, KDOT said did not have immediate information, but would release updates later this week when they became available.
