NEWTON—The City of Newton meeting lasted for one minute this week as Mayor Clint McBroom recessed the gathering due to a lack of a quorum.
The city can not act on business if there are only two members present.
He and Commissioner Leroy Koehn were the only two present. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 8 a.m.
McBroom said he believed the city picked that time, because it was what worked best for commissioners’ availability.
Reasons for absence included a vacation, a case of COVID-19, and city staff being unable to get ahold of a commissioner to confirm attendance.
