Chong’s will shut down on May 20.
The restaurant, 1816 N. Main, made the announcement on its Facebook page Tuesday.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that due to extenuating circumstances from COVID and familial obligations, Chong’s will be closing this coming Friday, May 20th, under its current owner,” the post read. “However, we are excited to announce it will be in good hands and reopening again under new management in the coming months so please look forward to it!”
The restaurant had operated since 1980 and reopened at the start of the year following a nearly two-year shut down during the pandemic.
It was a local favorite known for Korean dishes like Bi Bim Bop, its vegetable soup, and burgers.
“Our family wants to thank you so much again for 42 beautiful years of serving the community,” the post said. “We wish you all health and happiness!”
We’ll provide an update on the future of the restaurant once a new owner and a re-opening date are announced
