Chong’s fans rejoice!

The Korean restaurant located on Main Street at 1816 N. Main Street announced Thursday that it planned to re-open on Jan. 31.

The Chong’s Restaurant, which had been in operation since 1980, closed down at the start of the pandemic and remained closed for nearly two years, leaving a culinary hole in Newton’s restaurant landscape.

“I always planned to reopen,” owner Jong Choe said. “It’s been too long.”

The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 4:30 to 8 p.m. for dinner.

The restaurant also posted a menu, and it looks like it has all of the long-time customer favorites on there.

Yes, that includes the Hot Stone Bi Bim Bop.

“It will be ready,” Choe said with a laugh.
