Chili cook-off raises 12K

The United Way Chili Cook-off brought in more than $12,000 for the Harvey County United Way.

The event took place on Saturday, after a year hiatus due to COVID-19. Booths were limited to 20 to allow adequate spacing. Harvey County United Way director Dalton Black said according to ticket sales, about 700 attended the event.

“Really, we had a great turnout,” he said. “Everyone loved being back in an environment like that where we could have community.”

And, who had the best chili?

Open class winner was 106 Miles to Chicago manned by Greg Hanson and Tim Young, who were both dressed up like the Blues Brothers.
Hanson’s a regular chili competitor and has won the Wichita Wagonmasters Cook-off in the past.
