The ramp from eastbound U.S. 50 to northbound I-135, on the south side of Newton, will be closed for patching this week. The closure will be from around 7 a.m. Monday, April 11, to around 7 p.m. Friday, April 15.
This reflects a change in ramp closure plans released by KDOT Friday.
The work is part of a continuing ramp-pavement patching project on U.S. 50/I-135 interchanges on the south and north sides of Newton. The Kansas Department of Transportation project also involves patching on I-135 ramps at First Street and Broadway in Newton.
The project is expected to end around late July. During the work, ramps may be closed for up to five days at a time, including overnight and limited weekends. Only one ramp will be closed at a time. A single lane closure may be needed on sections of I-135 and U.S. 50. Motorists will be directed to drive at reduced speeds.
KDOT will continue to provide updates on when each ramp will close as the project progresses.
Vogts-Parga Construction, of Newton, is the primary contractor for the $1,179,492 project.
