Bethel College announced that it would cancel classes for students for the week of March 16-March 20, effectively doubling a spring break scheduled to begin March 23.  The decision was made as corona virus as well as confirmed cases of the disease spread across the state.

“Our priorities are the safety and health of our students, faculty, and staff,” read a release by Bethel.”We are also part of a broader community and society and must help reduce the spread of Corona virus. Any institutional measures that we adopt will help ‘flatten the curve’ – slow the spread of the virus over time – and prevent our healthcare systems from being overwhelmed. Moreover, the prevention measures below protect the most vulnerable among us; such actions resonate with our Anabaptist background.”

In related cancellation news, athletic activities  are also suspended for Bethel, and the school has put into place social distancing policies for staff and students until it lets out today.
