Active cases back on the rise, boosters approved

COVID-19 cases have now dropped below 100 according to County numbers.

As of Oct. 25, Harvey County had 132 active COVID-19 cases.

The county saw 124 new cases this week, 25 more than the week prior.

The current total is the highest the county has seen since late August.

Cases this time last year were 55 before sharply increasing throughout November.

Six residents are currently hospitalized with the disease.

Of the new cases, 78.2 percent were unvaccinated.

At least 55 percent of residents have received a vaccine dose and 65 percent of eligible residents have received a dose.

Booster shots for all three vaccines, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer now have Food and Drug Administration authorization and are recommended for those over 65, with health conditions or in a high-risk line of work.

Booster shots are currently offered by the Harvey County Health Department, Harvey Drug and Hesston Pharmacy.
