Obituary: Victor B. Tejano

Victor B. Tejano, 40, died of natural causes Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Newton Medical Center. He was born Feb. 21, 1978, in Newton to Dr. Neonilo A. and Dr. Esperanza (Buniao) Tejano.

Victor was a 1996 graduate of Newton High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Wichita State University. He was a volunteer for Ameri-Corps and worked as a data analyst for the United States Postal Service. Victor also was actively involved with his mother in her jewelry business.

Traveling was a favorite pasttime for Victor. He especially enjoyed family cruise ship trips and special trips to Philippines and Hawaii. He was a movie buff and looked forward to enjoying the latest movies.

Family was very important to Victor, and he greatly looked forward to spending time with them, especially his nephews Jake and Grant.

Victor is survived by his parents Dr. Neonilo A. and Dr. Esperanza Tejano of Newton; brother Neil Tejano of Chicago; and sisters Jennipher Tejano of Chicago, and Kristine Tejano Rickard (Jeffrey) and their children Jake and Grant of Carmel, Ind.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, and the casket will be open prior to the Recitation of the Holy Rosary, which will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall following the Rosary. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday May 18, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Nicholas Voelker celebrant. Interment service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 610 S. Vassar in Wichita.

Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation or St. Mary Catholic Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
