Obituary: Thomas H. Linn

Thomas H. Linn, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, in Newton.

He was born on March 3, 1924, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Benjamin H. and Irene W. Linn. Tom attended grade school in Fort Madison, Iowa, graduating from high school in Chillocothe, Ill., and later business college in Peoria, Ill.

Tom married Donna J. Shehan on May 8, 1945, in Peoria, Ill. Through Tom’s career with the Santa Fe Railroad, the Linn’s lived in Colorado and New Mexico, moving to Newton in the mid ’60s. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, as well as being a zealous golfer, fisherman and traveler.

Survivors include his daughter Dana A. Linn of Sandy, Ore.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; wife Donna on Oct. 9, 2016; and son Brian T. Linn on May 29, 2018.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A memorial has been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Caring Hands Humane Society, and contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
