Obituary: Estella Gail Boese

WALTON—Estella Gail Boese, 91, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Newton Presbyterian Manor.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1926, in Corning, the daughter of George Edward and Estella Bernice Gallaher TenEyck. The family moved to Walton in 1936. Gail graduated from North High School in Wichita in 1944.

Everyone in Gail’s family had nicknames, and hers was “Chubb.” Even later on, her daughters would each have nicknames. She married Warren G. Boese in the parlor of her “mom” and “pop’s” farm in Walton. After they were married, Gail and Warren lived in Newton and El Dorado before returning to Walton in 1966.

While in El Dorado, they operated the Dairy Queen for six years. In Newton, Gail had been a ward clerk at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. She also cared for her parents in their final years.

“Chubb” is survived by her daughters Leah Dains of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Jill Yoder and her husband Duane of Harrisburg, Va., Martha Siemens and her husband Dennis of Newton, and Suzanne Linton of Riverside, Iowa; her brother Clyde E. “Tink” TenEyck of Pennvalley, Calif.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents; brother George Robert “Budd” TenEyck; and sisters Mary Jean “Teence” Tuttle, Delia Bernice “Punk” Moore and Edith “Possum” Hetzel.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Walton United Methodist Church.

A memorial has been established with Newton Presbyterian Manor, and contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.

There will be no viewing or visitation as private interment has been at the Walton Cemetery.
