Obituary: Arthur James Flynn Jr.

Arthur James Flynn Jr. was born on October 30, 1927 in Irvington, N.J. – the son of Arthur James Flynn, Sr. and Anna Augusta Behrman. Arthur passed away on July 21, 2018 at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton, Kansas.

Arthur was the youngest of three children that included brother, William Francis Flynn and his sister Lois Ann Veltre – both of whom preceded him in death.

Arthur married Florence Jean Spennacchio on February 19, 1949. They had three children – Arthur James Flynn III, (Janice) of Bowling Green, Mo.; Patricia Ann Flynn of Atlantic Beach, Fla. and Linda Peters (Rodney) of Hillsboro, Kan. He had 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Florence passed away on October 26, 1975. On June 16, 1980, Arthur married Elizabeth Tortorelli. Elizabeth had two daughters from a prior marriage, Allison Fiorino and Carolyn Day. Elizabeth passed away on September 13, 2017.

Arthur graduated from Irvington High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January, 1946 and served on Guam. He was honorably discharged in June, 1947.

In 1949, Arthur began a 42 year career at Wyman Ford in Maplewood N.J., starting out in maintenance and eventually becoming the Parts Department Manager.

Arthur enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and bird watching. He was forever fascinated with mechanical things and the way they worked or were built. He was a lifelong New York Giants fan and also enjoyed Nascar racing. Arthur enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

There is no planned Memorial Service for Arthur. He will be cremated and his family will spread his ashes according to his wishes.
