The 45th Annual “Harmonies in Holiday Homes” Tour, benefiting the Charles Olson Scholarship Fund is on Sunday Dec. 8, at two times — 2 and 7 p.m. The tours combine the holiday décor and hospitality of four area homeowners with music played by local musicians.

Area museums welcome the public to the “Five Places of Christmas” on December 7 from 10:00 until 4:00. The holiday open house is a cooperative event among Carriage Factory Art Gallery, Harvey County Historical Museum, Kauffman Museum, Warkentin House, and Bethel College Women’s Association.
In addition to free admission to all of sites, each location will offer special activities and refreshments.

Some of the best-known jazz music of the season will be front and center for Bethel College’s annual Christmas Gala Jazz concert.
The performance, featuring Jazz Ensembles I and II, is from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 in Krehbiel Auditorium in the Fine Arts Center. It is free and open to the public, with a freewill offering taken to support jazz studies and performance at Bethel.

Bethel College’s Allison McFarland is going to the Olympics.
Although she is a triple medalist (two gold, one silver) in the 2012 Kansas Senior Olympics, the professor of business and economics is not actually competing in the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, Feb. 7-23, 2014.
