Ljuba Desmith puts a bag of apples in her cart at South Dillons. DeSmith shops for food for a woman who is homebound. Wendy Nugent/Newton Now
By Wendy Nugent, Newton Now Even though she had a soft cast on her foot, Ljuba DeSmith walked around South Dillons, guiding a cart around and looking for food, but this food wasn’t for her. The shopping served a greater purpose. DeSmith gets items for a woman through the Harvey County Retired Senior Volunteer Program two times a month, and she likes helping someone else.
